| SAN FRANCISCO The effort of living in an urban environment inspired the Concentration series. The images play off the varied meanings of the word, concentration: converging, distilling, compressing, assembly, clustering, intensification. I chose to use desaturated colors to suggest a timeless quality with a hint of nostalgia. LANDSCAPES From my earliest days in photography I've been fascinated by image manipulation. It was the magic of watching an image appear on paper in the darkroom that first hooked me on photography. Now Photoshop allows greater expansion of creative possiblities. In working with landscapes, I like to add layers of texture to create more depth and richness in the image. ABSTRACTS Texture, shadows and lines are fine subjects. The most mundane objects can become beautiful with the right slant of light. The most humble materials can age with dignity. Long-neglected surfaces peel and weather into dignified glamour. |
